About Robin

Robin is a long-time resident of Lincolnville, St Augustine, Florida. She graduated from St. Augustine High School and was accepted into St Johns River Community College where she received an AA Degree. She then transferred to the University of South Florida to study Rehabilitation Counseling. While in her junior semester, she was injured in a horrible car accident that left her paralyzed from the neck down.

Due to her injuries, Robin was given a 0% chance of recovering from her damaged spinal cord and three broken bones in her neck. Miraculously, through prayer and many years of extensive physical therapy, she relearned how to stand up and take steps again, using long-leg braces and a walker. Ultimately, she went back to college and graduated from the University of North Florida with a BA in Psychology.

After receiving her degree from UNF, she began working for The Independent Living Resource Center as a Nursing Home Transition Coordinator. In this role, she assisted young people with disabilities in transitioning from skilled nursing facilities to their own apartments.

As a Case Manager, Robin assisted clients in transitioning back into their community by coordinating community-based support services. As an Educator, she worked for the Duval County Public Schools as a Substitute Teacher and had the privilege to work in the classrooms with students who had special needs.

In addition, Robin volunteers for The Florida Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injury as a Peer Mentor, where she mentors newly injured patients who have experienced traumatic events in their life; to get up and never give up!

After surpassing the predictions placed upon her quality of life, Robin became an author to encourage, inspire and uplift people who had experienced life-changing events. She has written two books, The Doctor Said and Unbroken Spirit to highlight her journey to from crash to recovery to reclaim her life.

She received the Positively Jax Award from News4Jax October 2014, a Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women, Woman of the Year Award, March 2015. She was featured in UNF’s Nest Notes, as the Alumni Spotlight, September 2022 and Robin was a finalist for the Innovator, Jacksonville Image Awards, February 2023.
